Sister Mercedes has published a book, "The Art of Sister Mercedes"  which is the unwritten story of her love affair with painting, told one canvas at a time.  "Art is a part of me. It's my gift from God," she said. The book presents the artist's selections of paintings and drawings she considers her best, including the painting to the right entitled "Ave Maria" which is in the Collection Maria High School, Chicago, Illinois. The paintings in her book span about 60 years and, in her earlier work, one can discern the Cubist and Expressionist influence due to her studies at the Art Institute of Chicago. Later, she explores imaginative imagery and move to the semi-abstract. Sister Mercedes taught art classes at Maria High School in Chicago for 20 years.
