The Sisters of St. Casimir elected new Congregational leadership at their General Chapter, held March 25, 2008 through April 1, 2008.
Newly elected SSC Leadership, (from left): Sr. Immacula Wendt, General Superior, Sr. Theresa Dabulis, General Councilor; Sr. Regina Marie Dubickas, Assistant General Superior; and Sr. Margaret Zalot, General Councilor/Secretary. The SSC General Chapter took place March 25-April 1, 2008. During that time, the Sister delegates entered into serious reflection on their life and discernment on matters related to its growth and renewal, always seeking to be faithful to the gifts and the mission that God has entrusted to them. The Chapter was preceded by a year of planning and assemblies in which the Sisters identified key issues, gleaned pertinent information, reflected and discussed. Each day the Sisters said a special prayer for wisdom and openness to the Holy Spirit and asked others to join them in prayer. The theme of the General Chapter was "A Journey in Hope." At the end of the days of deliberation, the Sister delegates set specific directions to enable us to continue our journey in hope, renewing our lives, and attending in a special way to mission. Our community is known for its involvement in neighborhood issues and is seen as a stabilizing influence in Marquette Park. We are also recognized for our institutions which serve the educational and health care needs of many people in the area. In addition to setting a direction for the future, the Sister delegates elected leadership for the Congregation for the next five years, 2008-2013. Sr. Immacula Wendt was elected to serve as General Superior, Sr. Regina Marie Dubickas, Assistant General Superior, Sr. Margaret Zalot, Councilor, and Sr. Theresa Dabulis, Councilor. The installation for the new leadership team took place at a Mass on July 2, 2008 at the Motherhouse. The Chapter was truly a "Journey in Hope" and in peace. At the end, all were grateful to God for the blessings that came through the 2008 General Chapter. The charism of Mother Maria lives on as we faithfully and joyfully seek to bring our faith-filled presence wherever we are, build relationships with others in meeting the needs of the people we serve, and continue working on the strategic plan for our Congregation. b
