Who We Are
We are the Sisters of St. Casimir, a religious community of
women founded in 1907, in Scranton, PA by Mother Maria Kaupas, Servant
of God. She desired to found a congregation which would sustain and nourish the faith life of the early Lithuanian
immigrants in the U.S. She
encouraged her Sisters to do the same and then to "welcome" and care
for all others who would become part of their lives.
We, Sisters, are called to follow Jesus, to share in his mission by bringing an
awareness of God's presence and love into lives we touch.
We continue the mission and faith-filled vision of our
foundress,
Mother Maria Kaupas, which guides us to focus on the Lord's interests and to be
responsive to the needs of the Church. Strengthened by our life of prayer and
supported by our sisters in community, we journey toward the gospel vision of a
peaceful, loving and just world.
Our Prayer
We are women of prayer, deeply in love with
God and aware of God's presence in our lives. We value time for daily Eucharist,
personal and communal prayer, and faith-sharing, as a strength and support for
one another and as a bond that unites us.

With our community, we pray Lauds, Morning
Prayer, Vespers and Evening Prayer, together. We share in the Liturgy of the
Eucharist daily. Individually, we spend time with Jesus in daily
meditation, personal prayer, and visits to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
There, Sisters who can, pray the Rosary daily, together. The first Sunday of each month is our
Retreat Sunday, when we take time out of our usual routine for quiet prayer and reflection. We make a 6-day retreat each year. We have a special
Holy Hour on the Feast of the Sacred Heart and on the last day of the year.
Community feast days are opportunities for us to have special liturgical
celebrations.
What We Do
Wherever we are, our ministries
reflect Jesus' concern for the whole person. With others who share our ministry, the Sisters of St. Casimir offer hope and
joy of a deep faith to our present world as we:

With courage and trust in the Lord, we are open to the challenges of
our times as
we respond to the Spirit with generous hearts.
Where We Are
We are involved in education, health care, parish, and
social ministries, with a special concern for the poor and disadvantaged. Our
ministry in four community sponsored institutions, parishes, the Food Pantry at
the Motherhouse, and our ministry in Argentina witness to our commitment to the
gospel vision of a peaceful, loving, and just world.

We serve in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, New
Mexico and Argentina, South America.
